The one and only George Strait called Frio County home throughout his formative years. Located just a short drive from San Antonio, Pearsall is the county seat just 50 miles to San Antonio. Hunting, rodeos, cowboys and ranching is the name of the game out here. Mesquite flats with fertile fields, hardwoods and multiple creeks run through this region. Large acreage tracts are readily available, although you may be surprised at how much they list for.
Approximately 20,000 call the county home with almost 70% having a Latino or Hispanic heritage. Great bbq’s, local community festivals and rodeos fill the calendar in each small town across the region. Known for the famed “South TX Muy Grande” hunting, Los Cazadores and many premier deer hunting outfitters found in the area can help you fill that empty wall space with a prized buck. Many of the states record holders were harvested in Frio county.
My favorite place to visit in the county is the Frio River(Spanish for “cold”), I strongly encourage you to tube the slow flow river and partake in a wet beverage with friends as the canopy of Cypress trees give you shade during the oppressive summer heat. Call me if you want a property here.
